The growing number of foreign laborers coming to Korea indicates an increasing rend year by year. Most Koreans don’t like 3D jobs, that is, jobs which are dirty, difficult, and dangerous. Quite a few poor workers from the third world have come to Korea and are performing these 3D jobs. Now the number of foreign laborers in Krea actually comes to about 1.4 million: God has brought the mission field to us. Though most of these workers came to Korea to earn money, only a few of them have heard the Gospel and have received Jesus Christ as their own savior. But there were no theological schools for immigrant foreign worker to study the word of God regularly and intensively i9n early 1990s. so God allowed us to establish Trinity College and Seminary to fulfill God’s special plans to reach the lost. It takes a great deal of time and cost to send one Korean missionary family abroad. And it takes at least tow or three years to learn foreign language. To save time and expense, TC&S provides the opportunity for the foreign laborers to learn God’s word and to be disciplined as servant of our lord during a given period, and after that, they go back to their own countries to spread God’s word. This unique training of TC&S makes its graduates very effective on their mission field.
In spite of this effective cost-saving, fruitful strategy, the Korean Church has not yet seized this great opportunity at its doorstep. It’s time for the Korean Church to start rethinking its mission strategies because of the growing signs of end-time happening in recent days. But this strategy doesn’t mean that missionaries should not be dispatched abroad. We need to do both: we need to give our concerns and love to unevangelized peoples, especially those who from closed countries come to Korea to work and who want to be trained
Thus, we recruit the self-sacrificial, train them at TC&S, and then send these educated missionaries back to their own countries after they complete a required course. Thus, together with those who love Jesus Christ and are called by God, we can accomplish much through cooperation, as Apostle Paul wrote in the epistle to9 the Romans. Thus, we enable the church in Korea to fulfill its mission.
Our lord who showed us a model of the proclamation of the Gospel, the Kerygma, calls us to do our Lord’s mission and to complete the mission together. Jesus Christ tells disciples about the proper attitudes of His disciples clearly. The Gospel according to Mark (8:34) says if anyone who wants to follow Christ, he must abandon himself and follow Him with his own cross. And our Lord Jesus Christ gave the Great Commission to all believers.
The book of Genesis of the Old Testament (12:2-3) show how our Lord calls us to fill up the number of Gentiles, that is, God promised Abraham that through him all people would be blessed. From the perspective of redemption history, in the book of Genesis (3:15), our lord promised to Eve that the seed of the woman, Jesus Christ would crush Satan. This was fulfilled in the New Testament.
Our Lord Jesus Christ promised he would endure the cross, accomplish the resurrection, ascend to heaven, and return as King of Glory. God commands us to convey the Good News to the Gentiles. The Apostle Paul said that he tried not preach the good news where Jesus was already named. This means he didn’t want to establish a church on someone else’s foundation. According to the Epistle to the Romans, for anyone to be save, he must hear the message of our Lord and must believe what he hears.
In the Gospel according to Matthew (9:37-38), Jesus said there are few workmen in spite to the ripe harvest. This responsibility to evangelize and convert unevangelized people (that is, unbelievers) is our duty and the reason why we have to do discipleship. Thus, TC&S strives to reach unevangelized people in Asia, the Middle East, and Africa to extend our Lord’s Kingdom rule.
There are many seminaries in Korea now. Some these schools are working to aid the ministries in other countries. But Trinity College and Seminary, as an international College of Theology for foreign Students, is different from other theological colleges. This college is focused on educating the servants of our Lord Jesus Christ to aid the spiritually poor students of the third world. Moreover, this college as an education institution for theological education and spiritual discipline give full scholarships to all its students.
